New boss, bug fixes, and a fresh coat of paint!


Hello everyone!

It has been quite a long time since I worked on the game, mainly because I got conscripted in an agitated period. But I managed to find time for the project and I wanted to share what's new in the game:

Pausing the game

From now on, pressing the escape button will pause the game, and repressing it will unpause. The lack of a pause button has been a problem with the game for a long time. Because of how my engine (Turbowarp) works, I couldn't implement it without reworking all the code in the game. Lately, a new extension added a pause/unpause command. I am so happy that I could implement it, and I further plan to turn it into a full pause menu with options.

Reworking sprites

The first thing you notice when playing a game is how it looks, and my game simply looked atrocious. The bosses were boring shapes with no character, and the aesthetic could be summarized as "whatever takes me the least effort to draw". I usually thought nothing of it because my main focus was the gameplay, but as some of my friends pointed out, the story and visuals give the player the context, meaning, and attachment that give the game its soul. It will also help with promotional images and marketing which is a good bonus. I reworked many of the bosses, some of the bullet sprites, and I plan to do more in the future. I am not a good artist so if anyone is willing to give help or advice it would be greatly appreciated

New optional boss

I added a new optional boss to the game, I made it optional because I thought it was harder than usual and it doesn't focus enough on ground rotation, I think it is a nice challenge for action-oriented players. It also has its own music track, which I had a blast making. also added an extra attack to the third boss, and balanced some of the timings of attacks.
